Pokhara

Monday in Pokhara began with an incredible thunderstorm and a soaking rain.

The plan was for a few shuttle rides on some aggressive single track from the Stupa (World Peace temple) across the lake, but some of us thought better of sliding down some slick as snot path and chose to play tourist instead. Not sure when we will be back here, so it was good to see the sights.

Those on the ride said it was great and just as slippery as envisioned but we managed to miss their return which I am sure left a trail of mud for miles. The rest of us visited the Stupa, saw the Gupteshwor Mahadev and Bat Caves and generally cruised the city with a guide and driver. We played tourist, bought souvenirs and had a good wet time.

I decided an umbrella might be a good investment and for the price of a beer I was the proud owner of fancy new travel variety. I think it will make a nice tip as I am hoping that today is the only rain the we see.

The afternoon was finished off by a fabulous massage for 1800 rupees. 18 bucks for an hour of relaxation. Not bad. And a big bag of laundry came back for the exorbitant price of about 4 bucks. And it looks pretty darn clean – which is really good news.

There you have it. Hanging out, eating and drinking and generally having fun. Not bad.
