Nepal Day Something or Other – I am losing track…

Yesterday we flew from Pokhara to Jonsom. A sweet ride in a 20 seat plane. Cruising at 10000 feet and looking way up at the mountains. A bit turbulent but what a flight.

Saloman, one of our guides, was the man as he clearly got the baggage guys to accept our clearly too big bike boxes.
Arrival in Jomsom and a quick walk and we began the bike assembly process. That’s just what you do on the main road in front of a hotel. And no one even notices or cares. Breakfast and costume change and away we ride.

We were told that the temp would be a high of +1c. Maybe yes but the sun was intense and we rode in shorts and jerseys. Incredible ride to Kagbani. Under 10 miles on what they call jeep roads and single track. We openly wonder how often you have to replace shocks, tires, frames on the vehicles here.

We are at the Dragon Hotel. Not the Four Seasons but I wager our view is better. Way better.

Kagbani is a small town. There is a cool monastery, some stores restaurants and schools. There are schools everywhere here. And all the kids are in uniform. Smiling and happy.

While some of the group ventured off for a free ride on some major steep terrain, others of us cruised the town and explored the sights followed by well deserved beers at the Hotel Yeti, showers and relaxation with our million dollar view. However, we did have to provide our own soap and toilet paper!Nepal Scene

More traditional food for dinner, mo mo, rice, chicken, veggies and Marpha Best Quality Apple Brandy.

Today’s ride involves a 10 mile shuttle and hour long hike and then a long downhill back to a second night at The Dragon. The sky is perfectly clear this morning and hopefully that continues. It was a bit overcast last night but I hope to see a clear night as I am sure the sky is amazing.

Internet works better for some than others. I will continue to try to post photos but you never know.
