Day 1 and 2 Kathmandu

Day one in Kathmandu was a welcome blend of urban riding and city single track.

Since our bikes did not make the connecting flight through Dubai, we rode Commencal hardtails for the day. We rode for 5 hours and enjoyed temples, tea stops and great riding. The highlight was a rather high (freaking high) suspended bridge that you could see through as you rode over it. Heights are not my specialty but I am happy to say that I made it. We also rode some really skinny trails with several hundred foot drop offs on one side and some odd colored liquid on the other. Either way to fall was bad and thankfully, none of us did.

The end of the day had us racing a thunderstorm back to the Epic Rides shop. We lost but had fun. All in all day one was great. Dinner was a feast at a local restaurant that was awesome.

Day two has been the van ride from Katmandu to Pochara, a trip that is a bit nerve wracking but scenic. It was about 7 hours in total and we are all glad to be out of the van. Some of our bikes are in Jonsom and some are with us. Tomorrow we fly with the bikes and gear and meet up with the other guides and the other equipment that went by truck.

Right now a cold local beverage – hold the ice!15 Nepal Bridge
